Endorsements

The Nature Conservancy, the Trust for Public Land, and more than 20 elected leaders support Measure 1A.

County commissioners, mayors, city councilors, and state legislators from across Larimer County are standing behind this critical initiative.

Why This Matters

Larimer County is stretched thin.

Wildfire risk, growth, and aging infrastructure are outrunning the county's revenue. In 2026 alone, Larimer absorbed roughly $24 million in rising costs and budget cuts — even as federal and state funding pulls back. Larimer County has asked voters for this kind of funding before and come up short. Measure 1A is a dedicated, accountable way to close that gap before it costs us more.

The Measure

About 3¢ per $10.

A dedicated county sales and use tax — exempting groceries, gas, diapers, and prescription drugs — raising up to $34.5 million a year, independently audited every year.

Water
Protecting drinking water sources through watershed and forest health.
Wildfire
Mitigation, response, and recovery — plus an emergency reserve fund.
Roads
Roads, bridges, and infrastructure built for current and future demand.
Safety
Public safety and critical services for families, veterans, and older adults.
Why It Matters To You

This is about the place we all live.

Our Water
Protecting the watershed that supplies drinking water across Larimer County, from Fort Collins to Loveland and beyond.
Our Safety
Faster wildfire prevention and emergency response, countywide, backed by the people who live it — firefighters, water specialists, and emergency personnel.
Our Future
Every dollar invested in prevention today saves far more in recovery costs later — an investment that pays for itself.

This is about protecting the place we love — the water we drink, the forests around us, and the roads we drive every day.

The Measure

What Measure 1A Does

A dedicated county sales and use tax — about 3¢ per $10 — to protect Larimer County's water, forests, roads, and public safety.

The Basics

0.3%. That's it.

Measure 1A creates a dedicated 0.3% county sales and use tax — about 3 cents on every $10 purchase. Groceries, gas, diapers, and prescription drugs are exempt, so the tax falls lightest on the essentials families need most.

It's projected to raise up to $34.5 million a year, and every dollar is independently audited, every year, so voters can see exactly where the money goes.

Where It Goes

Four purposes. Nothing else.

Water

Protecting the drinking water sources that Larimer County families rely on, through watershed and forest health work that keeps our water clean at the source — before it ever gets expensive to treat.

Wildfire

Funding mitigation, faster response, and recovery after wildfire — plus building an emergency reserve fund so the county isn't caught flat-footed when the next fire season hits.

Roads

Investing in roads, bridges, and infrastructure sized for how the county is growing today — not just how it looked a decade ago.

Safety

Supporting public safety and the critical services families, veterans, and older adults across the county depend on every day.

Good To Know

Common questions.

What will 1A actually cost me?

About 3 cents on every $10 you spend. Groceries, gas, diapers, and prescription drugs are exempt, so the tax is designed to fall lightest on everyday essentials.

Where does the money go?

Measure 1A creates a dedicated fund. Revenue is directed to water, wildfire, roads, and public safety, as defined in the ballot language — not the county's general fund.

How do we know it's being spent responsibly?

The fund is independently audited every year, and results are made public so voters can hold the county accountable.

When do I vote?

Measure 1A is on the ballot countywide on November 3, 2026. Check your county clerk's office for registration deadlines and ballot drop-off locations.

Now you know what's at stake.
